The shine has worn off the game that's been distracting me for the last couple of days.
Some asshole 10x my size has been raiding my city (in this game that's setting your army to keep attacking until all their shit is gone, or you turn it off). It's like dude, I know that's how the game is played. I know you can do this because you have like 100 armies you can send out at the same time so there's no cost to you for doing it, but seriously what items can I possibly have that makes you keep attacking?
I think I'd be less annoyed if there was any way to grow your town without paying ridiculous amounts of real world money to get items, and even that wouldn't bother me so much if the game wasn't buggy as hell and the items I did spend actual money on hadn't disappeared from my inventory.
I really just want to play an offline version of this where I compete against a computer, not against dickbag gamers who want to pwn n00bs.
Well, at least now I should be able to get back to my big bang.

on 2013-03-30 06:47 pm (UTC)And your problem is just one of the many reasons I have never gotten into the whole gamer thing. If I could find one I could happily play by myself, or with a couple of people I KNOW, I might give it a shot (as if I need more ways to waste time than I already have....) but the idea of dealing with a bunch of anonymous people in the gamer hyper-competitive, over-adrenalized mentality who can hide behind their anonymous characters (I know that's not the right word...) and act like bullying assholes... feh, who needs it. I hope you can find a way to enjoy it without the annoyances. One of my old Saiyuki friends has gotten VERY deeply into a small rp she does with someone on Second Life (but to be honest, the one time I looked at it, it gave me the creeps.) But ignore me, I'm just old. *lol*

on 2013-03-30 09:28 pm (UTC)I'm not much of an online gamer, for many of the reasons you stated. If it were real life I would have my own ways of dealing with assholes of the type who want to exploit the games weaknesses to abuse other players.
This game was just a little city building game where you were suposed to balance your resources and build an army. What I didn't realize at the time was that your city is invisible for a week, or until you pass a certain benchmark, and then other people can see you, and that it means they will take all your stuff. All of my gamer friends reacted with disgust over how bad the design was if it allowed that.
I'm not going to play it again, since I've read reviews that pretty much guarantee it's something you just have to put up with. I'm instead going to look for an offline version once I get through the big bang I'm participating in.
(Second Life creeps me out too, I don't think it's just the age talking. Although given how often the words "kids these days" seems to come out of my mouth lately, I could be wrong. ;D)
